PROPELLED #2

Bringing live contemporary dance performance to its spaces,  Catapult Dance will partner with The Lock Up over two evenings to present PROPELLED #2, featuring collaborations by Australian contemporary choreographers, composers and dancers.

Shifting the divide between dancer and audience, PROPELLED #2 brings experimental contemporary dance into a non-traditional dance setting and unique dance setting.

Two works developed through residencies at through  Catapult’s Propel Residency Program will be presented each night of this weekend only project. Renowned choreographer and dancer Rhiannon Newton will collaborate with dancer Adelina Larsson and local musician James Maher to produce a new work of contemporary dance and sound. Independent choreographers Omer and Sharon Backley-Astrachan will present the work TOHU – a physical journey that explores the universal behavior of humankind and investigates the cycles and patterns in the universe and the natural world.

AUSTRALIAN YOUTH DANCE FESTIVAL – MELBOURNE

APRIL 14th – 18th

The Australian Youth Dance Festival provides creative development opportunities for young people. They work with some of the finest and most exciting dance makers in Australia. The experience provides professional dance artists with creative challenges, professional development and opportunities to work alongside their peers and with Australia’s rising youth dance talent. Participants youth dance company members, full-time dance students as well as dance teachers, choreographers and youth dance leaders.

The FLIPSIDE PROJECT will be performing at the GALA EVENT on the 16th April
